The User Interfaces group at Aalto University is looking for a postdoctoral scholar for exciting research topics at the intersection of computational sciences and human-computer interaction. The group is funded by a European Research Council (ERC) grant and consists of five postdocs, three PhD students, and two assistants. The research topics include fundamental aspects of computational design and interaction: model acquisition from data, simulation and cognitive models, optimization and machine learning methods, interactive support for designers, as well as demonstrators in key application of HCI. The group offers a collegiate and stimulating environment as well as access to state-of-the-art equipment. At CHI 2018, the lab members are involved in full paper presentations, including two Best Paper Honorable Mentions.
The group is part of FCAI, the Finnish Center for Artificial Intelligence operated jointly by Aalto University and the University of Helsinki. FCAI works towards the next generation of AI that is interactive, dependable, and data-efficient. It aims to boost and extend AI research and its applications by bringing together universities, industrial actors and the public sector. With our partners in Finland and abroad we want to achieve societal impact by generating business and solutions that will have world-wide positive effects on the economy and the well-being of people.

SALARY AND CONTRACT TERMS
The expected starting salary for junior-level postdocs is 3,550€, and it will increase with responsibilities and performance. The contract includes occupational health and social security benefits. The starting date is negotiable. The position will be initially filled for 2 years, with a possible extension to a total of 3 years.
