Markku is currently a visiting doctoral candidate (future postdoctoral researcher) in Prof. Antti Oulasvirta’s User Interfaces group. In Prof. Oulasvirta’s group, he is working on a project called “Self-Optimizing Web Services”, which focuses on computational optimization of web user interfaces. The project is funded by the Technology Industries of Finland.
Previously, he worked in the Web Services group led by Prof. Petri Vuorimaa in the Department of Computer Science at Aalto University. He holds a Master of Science degree in Communications Engineering from Aalto University. He will defend his doctoral dissertation entitled “Unified Web Application Development: A Declarative Approach to Empower End-User Developers” in early 2018.
Outside the office, Markku is a proud father of two daughters and a passionate boulderer with nearly two decades of rock climbing experience.
